Pilgrimage is a journey in Christianity designed to provide Christians with a renewed foundation and spiritual growth for individual and community living.
A Pilgrimage is not designed to convert anyone to Christianity. It is a renewal, meant for those who are already faithful and committed to Christ and His church.
Pilgrimage has its roots in the Roman Catholic Cursillo movement, which began in Spain in 1948 and extended to America in the late 1950’s. In addition to Roman Catholic and Presbyterian movements, there are similar weekends in the Methodist, Reformed, Episcopal, Lutheran and other Christian churches.
More than two million Christians in 50 nations have already attended a “Cursillo” weekend renewal experience.
The three-day weekend is an experience in Christian sharing and living. It begins with arrival at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday and concludes by 5:00 p.m. on Sunday.
During the 72 hours, you will hear talks presented by lay people and clergy. Each talk provides a perspective on aligning our lives with God’s grace.
Topics include: Priorities, Grace Given and Received, Lay People in the Church, Importance of Study, Christian Living, Obstacles to a Life in Grace, Leadership, Christian Action.
Your three days include chapel worship each morning and evening, communion, small group discussions, skits, music, laughter, and prayer … a complete Christian fellowship experience.
Marriages and friendships can be strengthened and deepened by sharing a common experience. Attending with those you care most about is encouraged.
The weekend is only a beginning. What you learn and experience during the weekend is meant to encourage and equip you to return and put into practice a renewed enthusiasm for your personal life, local congregation and community. There will be continued support from many others who have attended before or will attend with you.
Small “Renewal Groups” are designed to reinforce and affirm the Christian life of grace. Participants are encouraged to join a group where activities inspire, challenge, and encourage Christian action in homes, churches and communities. Small groups are available at various times and locations, see the 4th Day.
You will change the horizons of your Christian walk. Pilgrimage will help you see your life journey differently.
For those that are seeking growth and answers and for those that are content – all will come away with something greater in their walk with God.
God will be present: “For when two or more are gathered in my name, I am there among then.” Matthew 18:20
